In standard radial bearings, only 3 or 4 balls make contact under load at any one time. In angular contact (A/C) bearings, ALL balls are engaged and spread the force over a larger surface area to decrease friction and minimize wear.
MAX bearings are designed specifically for suspension pivots. Enduro Bearings pioneered MAX-type bearings nearly 20 years ago for bicycles to meet the challenges associated with mountain bike pivots. These bearings have 35% to 40% more load capacity than standard radial bearings. They do this with a special design, where the maximum number of balls is inserted into the bearing. Racing grooves are deeper in these bearings for greater lateral support for the torsion and multiple forces associated with mountain bike pivots. LLU seals offer maximum protection from the elements while keeping the 90% Almagard High Pressure Grease filling inside.
ABEC 3 bearings use grade 10 chromium steel balls and 52100 high carbon chromium alloy races.
The high-precision balls are within a range of 10/1,000,000″, twice as round as the industry standard, at the highest level.
Alloy raceways are made from a vacuum degassed process for the purest chromium alloy steel, hardened to R-62, extremely strong and very durable. Polished to a mirror finish for precise, silent ABEC-3 movement. Riveted steel retainer means toughness, ABEC-3 tolerances and noise tested, C-3 or CN Internal Clearance.
